I have several goals for 2018 and this hat is a double dip into two of them. One is to finally get around to knitting some of the many patterns I have seen and admire on Ravelry because I love learning new techniques from fellow designers and the other is to finally participate in a knit-a-long. This hat is for the KAL that Tayler is running for her Wool Needles Hands Podcast. This months theme was hat with a pom pom. For the last few years I haven't had much time to knit anything that wasn't an order for my shop or a test knit for my books, but this year I'm not writing a book (at least not yet), so I'm going to knit projects that are just for fun ..and this one was very fun and easy.

I'm really pleased to have finished knitting this hat this morning. I knit the ribbing yesterday and the rest of it today. It still needs to be blocked. The pattern is called "The Madison Beanie" and it is by Nat of Woolture, she's on Etsy and Ravelry as Woolture. It's a great pattern, very well written. The yarn I used is by Knit Picks in their Wool of Andes Bulky base in the Hazelnut colorway. The pom pom is by kitchenklutter on Etsy. I knit it exactly as written except I neglected to change needle size at the crown shaping, but I am still very happy with it. I really look forward to learning more this year, as the more I learn, the more ideas I have.
